To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Dan Calleja and Independent Education. I have known Dan since 1994. In 2001 he opened Independent Education, a well needed alternative to today’s public school system. As Director of Choices Counseling Center, a substance abuse and mental health facility, we were desperate to find a way that our recovering clients could obtain their education without the pressures and triggers they would find in their high school system. Dan’s school provides a safe environment, strong teaching and organizational skills to our clients so they can maintain their studies as well as maintaining their recovery program. His ability to connect with each student, by addressing each student’s unique talents and specific needs, is absolutely incredible. Some of our clients with learning disabilities had been told that this disability would prevent them from attending college. With Dan’s guidance and support they made it through to graduation and with outstanding grades. I also cannot think of any client I have referred (and there have probably been well over a hundred) that has not reached their intended goal.
